Timothy Luke, M.D. is characterized by a life-long dedication to sports medicine and orthopedic spine surgery. His medical experience is unique because he has first-hand knowledge of how patients suffering from neck and back pain may not be able to fully experience their own passions in life. His personal experience comes from the fact that he suffered a broken neck in a sports-related injury.
Through the pain he experienced after his injury and the exceptional medical care he received, Dr. Luke learned the importance of a dedicated medical staff, a nurturing environment, and the benefits of the latest medical technology. Thanks to the care he received, he was able to recover and pursue his dreams in life. He’d like to help his patients do the same.
Dr. Luke began his medical studies at Colorado State University, where he pursued his fervent interest in sports, especially in football and downhill skiing. He then went on to complete his Bachelor of Science in microbiology before entering the University of Colorado Medical School in 1992, graduating with a Doctorate of Medicine in 1996. Dr. Luke developed his expertise in surgery and orthopedics at New York’s Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he completed his internship, residency, and two fellowships, one in orthopedic/general surgery and the other in orthopedic sports medicine and research. He was then named Attending Surgeon in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery, and received the award for Best Paper from the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopedic Sports Medicine.
Dr. Luke has presented research to the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, Arthroscopy Association of North America, and the Western Orthopedic Association. He is a licensed physician in Florida, Arizona, and California.
